Success for the Lazy is my 88,000 word contemporary, humorous romance set in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Topher and Annie dated and even lived together for years but never found success until they separated.
The story opens with Annie leaving Topher. This forces Topher to realize that boredom with his job working for his uncle as an electrical engineer has made him boring to others outside of work. In an attempt to spice up his life, he attends a success seminar. There he learns tricks to appear efficient. For instance, since your boss usually sees you in the halls, always walk fast and carry something. Makes you look super busy and dedicated. When sending e-mails, so a stupid check. Don’t click “Reply to All” when you only meant to share your ridicule of the email’s message with our best friend. Don’t invite folks to a meeting scheduled for the past because of a “cut and paste” problem. Before you hit enter, sign your name, or pass on that document, ask yourself, “Have I been stupid?”
While Topher’s busy becomes less boring, Annie loses her roommates and her job. Desperate, she visits Topher, and finds, and reads the book that’s leading him to success. Back in Charlotte, she immerses herself in a new career.
Can the couple separated by miles and each building their own new lives reconnect?
